Hello fellow rodeo fans! I'm Elana TerAvest and I am so blessed to be your 2017 Larimer County Fair and Rodeo Queen. I started going to rodeos with my grandfather when I was 3 years old and I was always mesmerized by the girl on the fast horse carrying the flag. I grew to understand what an honor it is to carry our country's flag and I am thrilled to have that privilege. I'm also very excited to share my love of rodeo and promote the way of life it represents with my fellow Larimer County residents and fairgoers.
I was born in Russia and raised in Berthoud, Colorado by my two wonderful parents Tamara and Jeff TerAvest. I am a 17 year old senior at Berthoud High School where I have been a CHSAA Academic All State in volleyball, lettered academically, and helped to start an Equestrian Program enabling students to letter as an equestrian. I also earned one of the first 14 letters awarded in the new program. I've been riding since I was 4 and currently I’m a member of two I.E.A. (Interscholastic Equestrian Association) riding teams, competing in English hunter jumping and Western Horsemanship events. I also enjoy competing in barrel racing and reining. My horses are my passion whether it's training, showing, or just hanging out in the barn and drawing pictures of them! I also love spending time in the mountains hiking, camping and fishing with my family and friends.
I have been a member of the Wranglers 4H club in Larimer County for 5 years. 4H has deepened my appreciation for the agricultural lifestyle and Western heritage. It has also brought wonderful leaders into my life that encouraged me to pursue my goals. I hope I can follow in their footsteps and inspire other young men and women to follow their dreams
